An important story to tell
The University of Tasmania is one of Australia’s oldest and most unique tertiary institutions. It is the state’s only university and plays a crucial role in shaping Tasmania’s economy and culture. The university has an important story to tell about transforming the lives of Tasmanians and more broadly about its global impact – the university is ranked in the top 2 per cent of research institutes in the world.
A successful partnership
To help tell this story, the University of Tasmania turned to Pagemasters. With a pool of talented editorial staff already across Bass Strait through our work with the Mercury in Hobart, Pagemasters offered the university an end-to-end editorial solution to support its communication strategy – from initial design concepts and layout to subediting and proofing across print and digital platforms. Initially commissioned to produce Open To Talent – a high-end showcase of the university’s contribution to the state’s revival which appeared as a newspaper insert – the partnership has quickly grown to include a diverse range of strategic, marketing and engagement publications.
Responsive by design
As well as delivering an efficient, responsive and high-quality service to the university, Pagemasters’ browser-based content management system offered UTAS a new degree of transparency and collaboration. Roxen Editorial Portal has allowed university staff to place content, check proofs and track the progress of their publications – whether they are on the Cradle Coast or in Hobart. Nowhere has this effective collaboration been more apparent than in Alumni News. Charged with redesigning this key communication platform, Pagemasters delivered a product that echoes on the uni’s bold and edgy new branding. Feedback has been extremely positive – so much so that the university plans on entering it into the CASE Awards and is examining, with Pagemasters, ways to broaden the magazine’s reach digitally.
